World Sustainable Agriculture Day, 9 September

Spain is an agricultural country with 33% of the territory dedicated to farmland, placing itself as the second European country in terms of area.

In organicagriculture, Spain is at the top of the European ranking and fourth in the world, with more than 2 million hectares dedicated to this type of cultivation. “In recent years, Spanish farmers have made a relevant commitment to develop more sustainable agriculture, reducing environmental impact and using localized irrigation.” In this sense, “Murcia, and the Campo de Cartagena, are precisely at the forefront, with 98% localized irrigation”, details the president of Fundación Ingenio that brings together more than 10,000 farmers and 45 companies from the Campo de Cartagena, on the world day of sustainable agriculture.
